Si Fi (18 months), official spokesfish and creative director of www.yonderman.com, died of natural causes several hours ago in a fishbowl in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. “He just wanted to rule the world,” mourns grief-stricken owner Shane Shennan (29). “Si Fi dreamed that someday a mobile armoured fishbowl would be invented, allowing him to finally conquer the globe. It’s just a shame that he could never realize his goal of world domination. His determination was just so inspiring.”

Shennan bought Si Fi at a local Wal-Mart in September of 2007, and the Betta fish lived his short life in a luxurious fishbowl containing blue gravel, imitation plants and fake driftwood. Shennan discovered that he and the fish shared a mysterious connection. “We could read each other’s minds,” explaines Shennan. “In fact, Si Fi was the creative force behind many of the blog posts and podcast episodes on my website. He would offer constructive criticism regarding the ideas I had for the site, and he often dictated entire paragraphs to me. It’s just too bad that he did not live long enough to revolutionize the entire Internet.”

Si Fi was buried in a private ceremony at Ceramic Bown Cemetary. He leaves behind an empty fishbowl, a half-finished book entitled “Why A Fish Should Rule the World,” and many mourning minions.

Reading Wind in the Willows this time, I was struck by Mole ’s character growth. At the beginning of the book, Mole is timid and naive, learning about the world for the first time. By the end of the book, after a few adventures, Mole is a clever creature and a steadfast fighter! He has even earned Badger’s respect!

When I mentioned this to my sister, she said that it was similar to Bilbo Baggins’ character arc in The Hobbit! I wish I had noticed that myself.
